Our friends over at TOMS are asking people everywhere to bare their soles on April 8, 2010 — in the name of children in developing nations who have to bare their soles every day.
Most of us can’t imagine how hard it would be to go through life with no shoes, but most children in developing countries grow up barefoot – at home, at school, at play. These children suffer regular cuts and scrapes, infections and even debilitating diseases … all because shoes are a luxury they cannot afford.
Next Thursday, please consider joining TOMS One Day Without Shoes campaign to help spread awareness for the impact a simple pair of shoes can have on a child’s life. Whether you go barefoot all day, part of the day or even for a few minutes, you’ll be putting yourself in the shoeless shoes of others less fortunate – and inspiring others to do the same.
Visit the OneDayWithoutShoes website to read more about the campaign and check for local “barefoot” events in your area. For those of you barefoot-phobes, there are also great suggestions for how to support the effort while keeping your footwear intact.
Thank you, TOMS, for leading the way on April 8th … our bare feet will be right behind you.
